-
- It's even easier than that. After the modem drops connection....Open up a
- shell and issue a 'offline ppp0' (Assuming you are using ppp0). Then issue a
- 'online ppp0' command...(May have to do the online command twice)...And like
- magic....Modem will re-dial and re-negotiate a connection......If you are
- using the built-in dailer of ppp1.30
-
- This is the best way to re-negotiate a connection cuz....if you were in the
- middle of a transfer....and you happen to get the same dynamic address....Your
- protocol stack (i.e AmiTCP)...will continue as is from where the modem hung up
- ...[Note: It works even better with a static IP Address]
-
- I have been in the middle of an ftp session and lost a connection .....Using
- the above commands I was able to continue with no problems......
-
- For system crashes....you just re-run your start script....make sure that the
- ppp.device has the CD option in the config....(Whether config is in the script
- or set in you env: area)...and the ppp.device will just re-init the ppp
- connection without trying to re-dial...
